This iPhone model with Dynamic Island and beautiful color range is still sought after by many users, especially women.
While there are plenty of iPhones compatible with iOS 18, not to mention the yet-to-be-released iPhone 16, only two models will take full advantage of the AI software update: the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Even the newest models like the iPhone 15, which launched less than a year ago, won’t get the full iOS 18 experience when the operating system launches this fall. This is Apple fragmentation at its peak, so the question is: Will the iPhone 15 still be good enough in 2024?
This year's iPhone 15 has some pretty big upgrades compared to its predecessor, the iPhone 14. Fortunately, these changes are still quite well preserved.
Apple has changed the back glass to a matte finish instead of the glossy finish it had before. Personally, I like the matte finish because if you use it plainly, the matte finish means less fingerprints and smudges. This is because Apple uses “tinted” glass, although with the exception of the pink color, it doesn’t look too flashy.
The camera improvements on the iPhone 15 are also surprising. It's pretty much on par with what you get on the iPhone 15 Pro. So if you don't absolutely need a dedicated telephoto lens, you can probably just get by with the iPhone 15.
Apple also equipped the iPhone 15 with a new Portrait mode, which automatically captures depth data even in normal photos when it detects people or pets, allowing you to convert to Portrait photos immediately afterwards, which is very convenient.
The display on the iPhone 15 is pretty good. Colors are bright and vibrant, and text is sharp and clear. However, the 60Hz refresh rate on the iPhone 15 is a little less smooth than the iPhone 15 Pro. Most people probably won't notice it, and it doesn't affect day-to-day use, but it can be a little annoying to go back to 60Hz if you're used to a 90-120Hz display.
When Apple announced iOS 18 at its WWDC 2024 keynote, it was clear that Apple was going all-in on Apple Intelligence, its suite of AI tools across all platforms. With iOS 18, your iPhone now has some exciting new features, including a smarter Siri, new writing tools, image creation tools, better overall search in Photos, a Cleanup tool, and more.
But here’s the thing: Apple Intelligence will only run on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Even though the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are launching at the same time, they won’t have any Apple Intelligence features. Essentially, Apple’s one-year-old phone won’t even get the latest software features this fall.
Of course, there’s still a lot of new stuff in iOS 18 that’s not Apple intelligence. Messages, for example, will get RCS support and the ability to schedule messages to be sent later. The home screen will be more customizable, allowing apps and widgets to be placed anywhere, and icons and widgets will have a new look. Control Center gets its biggest overhaul in years, allowing users to fully customize the layout and even switch shortcuts on the lock screen.
Apple has given the iPhone 15 some big upgrades like a 48MP main camera, USB-C, and even Dynamic Island. And for most people, the A16 Bionic is a good chip for the basic tasks people will use the iPhone 15 for.
The iPhone 15 is currently priced from 16.9 million VND for the 128GB version in all colors, the higher capacity version will be about 1 million VND more expensive. With this price and many color options, especially pink, the iPhone 15 does not have Apple Intelligence but has all the other features, very popular with users, especially women.
If you like to experience the exciting Dynamic Island screen but don't have the financial resources to wait for the iPhone 16, upgrade to the iPhone 15 Pro, or simply don't need to work or entertain too much, the iPhone 15 will be a good choice that balances design, features and price.
