In the bustling atmosphere of the 2024 Olympics, all eyes are on the French city of Paris as singles and sports fans flock to the city of light (also known as the city of love).

The number of people looking for friends on Tinder with the description "athlete" increased sharply in Paris during the 2024 Olympics.

Against this backdrop, Tinder’s July 2024 data revealed that in France, Tinder swipes were up nearly 20%, and Passport usage to Paris’ top tourist destinations was up 103% year-over-year. The top three countries with the most Passport users to France in July were the US, Brazil, and Türkiye.

Soccer, basketball and swimming are the top sports that Tinder users list in their dating profiles. Meanwhile, the fastest growing sports are gymnastics (+31%) and basketball (+14%). Additionally, the number of users with the job description "athlete" increased by 43% on Tinder in Paris.

Users can use Passport to search by city or select a location on the map. They will then begin swiping, matching, and chatting with others at their chosen destination. Other users will be able to see if you are using Passport.

On average, Tinder users use Passport 145,000 times a day and traveled 100 billion kilometers online in the past year. That's the equivalent of going to the moon and back more than 130,000 times.

The Passport feature is most used by Tinder members during vacations from June to August and from December to January. Tinder also found that when looking for a “companion” at a tourist destination, Passport users aged 18 to 25 are more active, exchanging messages three times more than Tinder members who do not use this feature.

To use the upgraded version of Tinder Passport, Tinder members can go to Settings > select Locations > add a new destination by dropping a point on the map.

On this occasion, Tinder also reminded users that personal information is extremely important. Therefore, athletes who want to keep their profile information private in Paris should completely hide their profile by using incognito mode. Then other members can still "Like" or "Dislike" your profile on the application, but only those you have liked will be able to see you in the list of suggested matches.

Dating app Tinder has just announced the launch of the Share My Date feature, allowing users to update their date plans with friends and family directly from the app.

The Share My Date feature is designed for friends, parents, and co-workers. With a simple link sharing within the app, users can update their matches with location, date, time, and photos. They can choose who they want to share their plans with, and can schedule dates within the app up to 30 days in advance.

Date plans can also be edited dynamically, so if plans change at the last minute, users can easily update the information in the app to ensure the group is always up to date with the latest changes.

Share My Date will be rolled out globally, including to the US, UK, Australia, Canada, Singapore, India, Ireland, Germany, France, Spain, Japan, Brazil, Switzerland, Mexico, Netherlands, Italy, South Korea, Vietnam and Thailand in the coming months.

Whether you’re planning a coffee date or a movie date, Tinder believes that getting ready for a date is more fun when you can share the fun with your best friends. According to Tinder’s survey, more than half of singles (51%) under 30 tell their friends details about their date; and one in five users (18%) share their date plans with their mom.
