According to new data announced by the State Bank, the total assets of the credit institution system by the end of 2023 will reach over 20,073 million billion VND, an increase of 9.83% compared to the end of 2022.
Statistics from financial statements and business results announcement of 28 banks, total assets reached more than 16.6 million billion VND. Among them, 3 banks have total assets of over 2 million billion VND: BIDV (more than 2.3 million billion VND), VietinBank (more than 2 million billion VND) and Agribank (more than 2 million billion VND).
Vietcombank is the bank with the 4th largest total assets in the system, reaching more than 1.8 million billion VND, an increase of only 1.4% compared to the end of 2022.
Thus, the total assets of the Big 4 group account for 50% of the entire credit institution system in Vietnam.
The next banks to appear in the Top 10 total assets are MB (more than 944 trillion VND), Techcombank (more than 849 trillion VND), VPBank (more than 817 trillion VND), ACB (more than 718 trillion VND). , Sacombank (674 trillion VND), and SHB (more than 630 trillion VND).
HDBank follows SHB's Top 10 position with total assets at the end of 2023 reaching more than 602 trillion VND. This bank had the highest growth rate in the system last year, reaching an increase of 44.7%.
In the Top 10, MB, Techcombank, VPBank all recorded high growth rates in 2023 reaching over 20%, even like MB and VPBank at nearly 30%. These banks have almost used up all the credit growth room assigned by the State Bank for 2023, with growth mainly in credit to the business sector.

From 2013 to present, Techcombank's total assets increased 5.3 times, VPBank increased 6.7 times. Meanwhile, ACB and Sacombank only increased more than 4 times.
